Healing agriculture shares wellness and healthy living

With the implementation of the five-day work week in the 2000s, wellness and green tourism gained traction. Urbanites traveled to rural areas to enjoy the natural scenery and traditional culture, and the pension business was revitalized. The pension industry was led by farmers and villagers, who developed cottage-style pensions that compensated for the shortcomings of the existing minpaku. The government also supported this, and experience tourism farms and experience vacation villages were created, but many of them were neglected due to the difficulty of operation.

Recently, 'healing agriculture' has been on the rise. Healing agriculture, which has been gaining attention along with the wellness trend since the COVID-19 pandemic, is an activity that utilizes agriculture and rural resources to take care of people's health. Through this, rural residents can create economic added value.

Mr. K, who runs a cafe in his hometown, is planning a healing agriculture program that combines meditation in the garden. However, she believes that adding a few programs to an experience village does not make it a healing village. He is worried that the image of the village will be tarnished by poor management.

As the number of retirees has increased, many rural villages have been built. In particular, as the baby boom generation began to retire, the number of people who built multi-habitations, or weekend homes, and moved between rural and urban areas increased. Many of these people want to give up city life and move to the countryside, but are hesitant because they don't know what to do.

If you're considering homesteading or homesteading, you may be interested in healing agriculture. If you have the skills to organize and run a program, you can make money from your garden or kitchen garden while also enjoying a healthy lifestyle. Pensions were once popular for similar reasons. However, many of them have failed due to large-scale collectivization and over-ambition.

We want to see more small, individualized healing farms. Policy support should also go in this direction. Healing farms that share wellness and healthy living can open up new possibilities for rural areas.
