Amidst the general downturn in the fashion industry, Korean athleisure brands Jeximix and Andar have stood out as the best performing brands in the second quarter of this year. In particular, the two brands have capitalised on the wellness trend to continue their strong growth.

Jeximix posted KRW74 billion in sales and KRW11.9 billion in operating profit in the second quarter, up 32 per cent and 136 per cent year-on-year, respectively. According to BrandX Corporation, the key to its success is the expansion of its golf, men's, and accessories categories in addition to its existing women's range. The golfwear and men's lines have been particularly popular, with sales growth of 142% and 89%, respectively. The company is also expanding into the Chinese market, opening more stores.

Andar also posted its strongest second quarter ever, with sales of KRW 67.1 billion and operating profit of KRW 10.5 billion. Andar successfully executed its category expansion strategy by launching swimwear and underwear to target summer demand. The company has also been active in overseas expansion, with good results in Japan and Singapore. In Japan, the company has surpassed KRW 12 billion in cumulative sales in just over a year and a half, and in Singapore, the company has reached KRW 10 billion in sales in less than a year.

With the recent wellness trend gaining popularity among young people, athleisure brands have been gaining traction with their cost-effectiveness and convenience. The success of these brands is attributed to the harmonisation of wellness and athleisure products, which simultaneously pursues the health and satisfaction of customers.

‘Wellness and Zero Trends: Singapore's Healthy Lifestyle Transformation‘** **’Wellness and Zero Trends: Singapore's Healthy Lifestyle Transformation

The wellness and zero trend has been making a strong impact in Singapore in recent years. Under the Nutri-Grade system, which came into effect at the end of 2023, beverages high in sugar and saturated fat are banned from being advertised, and manufacturers are exploring healthier alternatives. These changes are encouraging consumers to favour natural, organic and sugar-free beverages, which is why the zero beverage market is booming.

According to Euromonitor, the sugar-free beverage market in Singapore is expected to reach S$192 million by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 7 per cent from S$135 million in 2023. Fairfield's report also analyses that demand for sugar-free beverages is growing due to long working hours and outbreaks of illness.

Sales of non-alcoholic alcoholic beverages are also expanding, with Singapore's non-alcoholic beer market expected to grow from US$1.52 million in 2024 to US$2.77 million by 2029. The market is also expanding in restaurants and bars, with dedicated menus for non-alcoholic drinks.

Manufacturers are responding to the demand for zero-calorie and zero-carb foods, and the global zero food market is expected to grow from US$19.17 billion in 2023 to US$22.3 billion in 2028. The demand for healthy products such as zero sauces is growing in the food industry, and brands are adapting their marketing strategies to reflect this trend.

Heineken is tapping into the health and wellness trend with its non-alcoholic beers and sending a positive message to consumers. The health and wellness trend is having a major impact on product innovation and marketing strategies, and companies are capitalising on this trend to engage with consumers.

The core of the project includes the installation of the Jeonju Sightseeing Cable Car, the Azung Lake Wind Tunnel, the Azung Lake Library, and the creation of the Hubaekje Historical Park.

Along with the cable car, a digital night view content will also be built to make the night view of Azung Lake special. This will make Lake Azung a stay-over tourist destination that can be enjoyed both during the day and at night.

The Wind Tunnel of Lake Azung is a new cultural space that utilises an abandoned railway tunnel and will provide a constellation experience and various event spaces. In addition, the Azung Lake Library, a space that combines nature, books, and art, is scheduled to open in April 2024.

**‘Wellness and Finger Health: The “Phone Pinkies” Phenomenon and What to Do About It’**

Recently, the phenomenon of ‘phone pinky’, which is a change in the shape of the fingers due to mobile phone use, has been in the spotlight. Reported in Australia, it is a condition in which the pinky finger is dented by prolonged use of mobile phones. Sydney health and wellness expert Dr Jack Turner warned that the condition is on the rise and can cause pain and stiffness.

Von Pinkie can lead to calluses or, in more serious cases, carpal tunnel syndrome due to the pressure and strain on the finger. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a narrowing of the carpal tunnel that compresses the nerves, causing numbness and pain in the hand and forearm, and can also disturb sleep at night.

People on social media, including TikTok, have shared pictures of their bent pinky fingers, joking that it's the ‘next evolution’ of the human race. However, Dr Jack Turner says that in most cases, the condition is not permanent and is fully treatable. To reduce the strain on your fingers, it can be helpful to use a mobile phone support or GripTalk, or to utilise the voice-to-text feature.

From a wellness perspective, it's important to maintain good mobile phone habits and reduce strain on your fingers and wrists to prevent and manage these finger health issues.
